Floodplain Management

Paxton Creek during Ida

Susquehanna Township, like most municipalities along major waterways, ensures that proper floodplain management is practiced in order to prevent or reduce the risk of flooding. By participating in proper floodplain management, residents are able to properly protect their homes from severe weather and prevent property loss during storms. All permit applicants submitting to Susquehanna Township should review if their property is within a flood zone to know if other requirements are needed for their build. Also, residents should look to see if their property is within a flood zone or near a flood zone so they can purchase Flood Insurance from a provider. It is better to be insured than not, because when it rains it can flood anywhere and you don't want to be found without insurance.

Flood Map - utilize this map to search your property address to see if it is near or located within a flood zone. It is always advised that the official FEMA Flood Map should be examined when reviewing your property for permitting and insurance rating.
