You may have recently noticed construction activity at Veterans Memorial Park.
With the award of a grant in the amount of $175,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), the Township has contracted for construction of two playgrounds at Veterans Memorial Park. These playgrounds will be designated for children 2 to 5 years of age and for children 5 to 12 years of age of all abilities.
The grant monies will also allow the Township to implement current ADA accessibility standards, make renovations to the restrooms, provide potable water to the park and control storm water runoff at the playground site.
Funding for the grant comes from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation fund (Key 93), the Environmental Stewardship Fund (Growing Greener 1) and federal funding sources.
Matching funds for the grant will come from the Recreation Developers Fund.
Cost for the project is: $537,883.30
- $305,400.00 for base bid.
- $10,000.00 for alternate # 2 restroom and pavilion roof replacement
- $114, 483.30 for 2 playground structures and 2 sets of swings.
- $108,000.00 for poured in place safety surface.
