What is stormwater?

Stormwater is water from rain, snow and melting ice that flows across the ground and pavement.  It is water which seeps into the ground or drains into storm sewers and is discharged into ponds, lakes, streams, creeks and other surface water bodies.  Collectively, the draining of water is called stormwater runoff.
