PPL Appliance Recycling Program $$: Your old, spare residential-sized refrigerator or freezer can use two to three times more electricity than newer, ENERGY STAR® models. Now you can have those inefficient appliances picked up for free, get paid for doing so and reduce your electricity use. Plus, 95 percent of the materials from these appliances will be recycled and not just dumped in landfills.
The refrigerator or freezer must be in working condition and be between 10 and 30 cubic feet in size. You must own the unit and be a PPL Electric Utilities customer. Limit two units per address per calendar year. A $35 incentive check will be mailed to you after the appliance is collected.
Bonus: If you have inefficient, working window air conditioners, we will have those picked up at the same time as your refrigerator or freezer and give you an additional $25 per unit, limit four per household per calendar year.

Free Alert Notifications Available: Pennsylvania has implemented an electronic notification service for all Pennsylvania residents. This free service is called AlertPA. It allows each resident to select notifications specific to their location and/or interests. Current notification offerings include: Airport Delays, Statewide Health Notifications, Weather Advisories by County, Weather Warnings by County, and National Alerts including Recalls and Product Safety. Plans are in place to include Amber Alerts and Emergency Alert System messages in the future. Alerts can be sent to text messaging, cell phones, and/or e-mail addresses. Each township resident is encouraged to register and signup for Dauphin County Weather Warnings. Visit alert.pa.gov to signup.
