TO: COMMERCIAL CONTRACTORS,
ARCHITECTS, ENGINEERS, AND PROPERTY OWNERS
FROM: ALBERT WRIGHTSTONE, JR., BUILDING INSPECTOR
RE: BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION PROCEDURE CHANGE
DATE: May 18, 2006
As a party who has interest or potential interest in commercial work
in Susquehanna Township, please be advised that effective upon your
receipt of this memorandum, Susquehanna Township has changed
procedures for accepting and processing Commercial Building Permit
applications. Susquehanna Township has contracted with Middle
Department Inspection Agency to provide review and inspection
services for all Commercial Building Permit submissions.
The following changes should be noted for the record:
1. Complete plan review will be performed by Middle Department
Inspection Agency. The plan review will include Handicap
Accessibility. You will no longer need to send plans to Labor and
Industry. Electrical plans will also be reviewed by Middle
Department.
2. ALL inspections, including handicap accessibility, will be
handled by Middle Department.
There will be two fees involved, the Building Permit fee to
Susquehanna Township and the review and inspection fee payable to
Middle Department Inspection Agency. The fees will be payable upon
issuance of the building permit, and will require separate checks,
one to Susquehanna Township for the Building Permit and the other to
Middle Department Inspection Agency for review and inspection fees.
The cost will be provided to you at the time the permit is ready to
be issued. Both fees must be paid in order for the Building Permit
to be issued.
Also enclosed is a supplemental form
(click here) to the existing Susquehanna
Township Building and Zoning Permit Application. This form is
intended to obtain information that is not requested on the existing
application form. When a building permit is applied for, both forms
must be completed and turned in with the appropriate plans. You will
continue to submit your plans to this office. Separate Electrical
Permits by a township-licensed electrician and Plumbing Permits by a
township-licensed master plumber will continue to be required.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact this
office at (717) 909-9226, FAX (717) 540-4298 or
