AARP Tax Assistance returns to Senior Center
Reeder Swartz and his staff will again
provide free tax assistance for the “mature” township citizens in our
Senior Center beginning Tuesday February 1, 2011. Volunteers will be here until April
16, 2011.
Who:
AARP Tax-Aide is the nation’s largest free tax
service that works in partnership with the IRS.
What:
Tax-Aide provides free tax preparation and can electronically file both federal and
state returns for those who need it the most – taxpayers with middle
to low income, with special attention to those over the age of 60.
When:
Tuesdays

Saturdays 8 AM – Noon, February

AARP
Safe Driving Certification Class
Susquehanna Township
Recreation in conjunction with AARP is offering the Defensive Driver
Safety course taught by certified instructor, Henry Dreher. The course
is for anyone over the age of 55, township residency not required.
Attendance in the class secures you three years of certification as a
“Safe Driver” plus the percentage reduction on your insurance
premium
.

Instruction (by
appointment only)
Are you tired of feeling
intimidated by your computer or watching your grandkids rely on them?
A free basic course for
using a personal computer will be offered this summer on Monday
& Wednesday mornings in the Senior Center computer lab. Call
immediately to reserve your time for this most beneficial class designed
to help the novice learn to use the computer. No experience necessary,
come and learn with us. Call 909-9228 for information or to reserve you
time slot.
Individualized computer
training, “surfing the internet”, or learning how to use email. In
the STPR Computer Lab 10:00 AM – 12 Noon Donation requested RESERVATION

SENIOR
FITNESS and WELLNESS CLASSES
Every
Wednesday, at 10 AM, certified Fitness Instructor Dorothy Bangert
leads an hour long fitness session in the Susquehanna Room of the
Township
Building
. This donation only
program, stresses balance exercises, stretching, muscle building with
a low impact safe level for the mature body.
The program is adapted for all, especially those dealing with
the effects of diabetes, arthritis, joint replacements, rheumatoid
osteoarthritis and other ailments. Drop in any Wednesday, 10 AM .
No registration necessary

| BOOK SWAP
The Senior Center offers an
opportunity to swap your books for books you have not read. We
have 2 full bookshelves of donated books for you to choose from. If
you do not have a book too swap, then a minimal donation will allow
you to take one or more of our books with you. Book swap is available
during regular senior center hours.

Computer
Lab - Internet FOR Adults AND Seniors
The computer lab
(4 computers) is available for your use Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to
4:00 PM. This is
an on-your-own experience with the computer, surfing the net, e-mail or
word processing. You may stop in during those hours or call to see if a
computer is available. Please call for availability 909-9228

Yoga
Certified Yoga instructor,
Gail Ellen Riegler, leads a series of morning Chair Yoga, a unique form
of Yoga, perfect for anyone
who would like to experience the benefits of Yoga but prefers chair to
mat
.
The classes will include yoga breathing techniques, traditional yoga
poses, balance and relaxation exercises along with stress reduction tips
.
This practice is easier on
the joints and limbs
.
Please wear comfortable clothing, bring water and a pillow if needed
.

BOARD GAMES
Every Wednesday afternoon, a drop in program, Scrabble, Boggle or your
choice of activity. Get a foursome and come enjoy some social time. We
even supply the snacks. Free program 11am - 2 pm.

MEALS ON WHEELS - Volunteers Needed!
Delivery of 12 – 24 meals out of our center on Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday, and Friday in Susquehanna Township. Meals are usually split so
you only need to make 9 to 10 deliveries.

are always needed for this very worthy cause. Call 909-9228
