SENIOR CENTER HAPPENINGS!!!

Have you visited the Senior Center in the Municipal Building? Located in the lower level Recreation Suite, the recently dedicated room can host small meetings, board games and card parties, and contains a four station computer lab for training and instruction.

The Recreation Department is working to coordinate additional programs and staff opportunities for future activities for our older citizens. If you are interested in using the room, seeking a program in the room or just touring the facility, call the Recreation Office at 909-9228 or just drop in and share your ideas.

Senior Center Hours Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

BOOK SWAP

The Senior Center offers an opportunity to swap your books for  books you have not read. We have 2 full bookshelves of donated books for you to choose from. If you do not have a book too swap, then a minimal donation will allow you to take one or more of our books with you. Book swap is available during regular senior center hours.

Computer Instruction  (by appointment only)

Individualized computer training, “surfing the internet” or learning how to use e-mail is offered in the STPR Senior Center Computer Lab Monday through Friday, 10 am to 12  noon.  $3 per session.  

Computer Lab - Internet for Adults and Seniors

The computer lab is available for your use Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.   This is an on-your-own experience with the computer, surfing the net, e-mail or word processing. You may stop in during those hours or call to see if a computer is available.              

AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM

8 hour AARP approved course

Tuesday September 16 and Tuesday September 23, 2008

9 AM – 1 PM

Both Days Mandatory

Township Bldg, Susquehanna Room

$10  payable to AARP

For Senior Pennsylvania Drivers 55 and Older. Participants with clean driving records who complete the two (2) sessions are eligible for a 5% discount on their auto insurance for three (3) years. Program held in the Susquehanna Township Municipal Building,1900 Linglestown Road, Susquehanna Room  Call 909-9228 with questions. Cost : $10 Make Checks payable to AARP

AARP Tax Assistance returns to Senior Center

Reeder Swartz and his staff will again provide free tax assistance for the “mature” township citizens in our Senior Center beginning in February 2009. Volunteers will be here at least two days a week from February through April 15. Watch the paper, check our web site at susquehannatwp.com or call the Recreation Office, 909-9228, for specific times and dates for this drop in program.
 
WEDNESDAY’S BOARD GAMES

Every Wednesday afternoon, a drop in program, Scrabble, Boggle or your choice of activity. Get a foursome and come enjoy some social time. We even supply the snacks. Free program 11am - 2 pm.

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program

Wednesdays 10 - 11 am Susquehanna Room of Township Bldg
Arthritis Foundation sponsors Dorothy Bangert for a low level, stress free workout and some new meditation techniques. Take control of arthritis and many other conditions with exercise. The low impact class may be taken either sitting or standing. $3 per class donation requested. Walk ins welcome! Year round program call for information.

MEALS ON WHEELS  - Volunteers Needed!

Delivery of 12 – 15 meals out of our center on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday in Susquehanna Township. Volunteers are always needed for this very worthy cause. Call 909-9228

THURSDAY MORNING PINOCHLE CLUB

Tables of four will welcome all to experience fun and fellowship with a great game of pinochle. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with snacks and coffee provided.
FREE PROGRAM open to all ages and genders.
