The following positions are available for Summer 2010 employment with the Recreation Department: Application available here. Applications are also available at the Township Parks & Recreation Office.
 

Day Camp: Based at Thomas Holtzman Elementary
7 week program. Monday – Friday. (off July 5th)
Monday, June 21 – Friday, August 6
8:30 am – 2:30 pm
Camp is divided into four age groups with ages ranging 4 – 12 years old.
Camp has weekly themes with activities gearing towards that theme. Day consists of recreational activities, arts & crafts, competitions. Older groups also take several field trips throughout the summer with the playground participants.

The following positions are available in this summer’s Day Camp:

  • Day Camp Director: This is a supervisory position. Director will be responsible for organizing the camp, supervising 4 group leaders. Applicants should be creative, flexible and be able to organize. They should be able to direct and motivate a staff of approximately 20. Good communications skills with children & parents is a must! Previous experience in education is preferred but not necessarily required. Salary will depend on amount of experience and educational credentials. An excellent growth opportunity for educators and perspective educators! Applications are due March 11, 2010

  • Day Camp Group Leaders: Group leaders are responsible for organizing their room within the Day Camp. Applicants should be creative, flexible, organized and able to supervise high school age workers. Previous experience in education is preferred but not necessarily required. Salary will depend on amount of experience and educational credentials. Applications are due March 24, 2010

  • Day Camp Counselors: Counselors will help direct activities within the Day Camp room under the direction of the Group Leader. Applicants should be enthusiastic and flexible. They should be able to communicate well with others, especially children. Salary will depend on amount of experience and educational credentials. Applications are due March 24, 2010

Susquehanna Township Neighborhood Playgrounds: Located in various playgrounds throughout the Township.

Open weekdays 9:00 am – 12:30pm
Open Monday, June 21 – Friday, August 6 (off July 5th)
Free program. Weekly recreational trip – only cost to participants

Staff is responsible for organizing games and activities. They will also supervise children on field trips and are responsible for registration and collection of money for trips. Applicants should be enthusiastic, flexible and be able to think on their feet! They should enjoy working & playing outdoors. Salary will depend on amount of experience and educational credentials. The Department always welcomes weekly sports camps and specialty classes. The range is wide as your talent! Give us your ideas!

 
Park Maintenance:

 

Part Time Seasonal Park Maintenance  Employment.

General Description: The Recreation Maintenance Worker II is responsible for providing assistance in executing a high-level maintenance program for recreation areas located within the Township. 

 Essential Duties:  Cuts grass, rakes leaves, trims trees and shrubs, collects litter, pulls weeds and performs other related grounds-maintenance work. 

Salary based on 800 hours/year   $9.25 - $9.75/hour depending on experience

Benefits - No Benefits provided

Flexible Schedule

Seasonal work from March to October (25-30 hours a week)

Hours and days may be flexible; some weekend work required

Part Time Summer Park Maintenance  Employment.

Employment may begin in May and must end in August 
Employment is for 8 weeks at 25 hours per week
Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Hours are flexible)
Maintenance employees will be responsible for general maintenance of all facilities including athletic fields, playgrounds, buildings, grounds and trails. You will be working out doors and using common hand tools. Salary is $9.00 per hour.
