HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR NOVEMBER, 2009 |
ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the
Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these
premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned
vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints
were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal
contact or letter notification.

On November 2, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at 3540 North 6th Street
with a large trash accumulation in the alley. Another citation was
issued.
On November 2, 2009; A Visit to Giant #447 about the meat recall. No
meat was either in #35 or the new store at #447. There was no
evidence of any of the dates running through our stores here.
On November 3, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 2305 Canby Street
about housing code violations. Some violations were noted and
another re-inspection of the property has been scheduled for
December 8, 2009.
On November 4, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 3000 Locust Lane at the
request of the request of the resident. All of the violations that
were present earlier were corrected. The case is now closed.
On November 4, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 2230 Boas Street. All of
the trash and salvage goods were removed. The case is now closed.
On November 6, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 3419 North 6th
Street for various violations that needs to be corrected. A
re-inspection has been set up for early December.
On November 9, 2009; A Massage Therapy Inspection at Ultimate II
Massage Therapy Salon and no violations were noted.
On November 10, 2009; A Meeting with Bobby McLean from the
Department of Agriculture about the implementation of the Garrison
System. More meetings will follow to get the program up and running.
On November 10, 2009; A Re-Inspection at 213 Shell Street, Apt.
#B-11. Some of the violations still remain and another re-inspection
will occur in early December.
On November 12, 2009; A Massage Therapy Inspection at Therapuetic
Massage by Lisa Reed. No Violations were present.
On November 12, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 4501 North Front
Street, Apt. #1 for various violations. A Re-Inspection will be done
in early December.
On November 13, 2009; A Meeting with Joyce Drake who was a tenant at
1001 South Progress Avenue for various code violations. A Housing
Code and Yard Inspection has been set up for Tuesday, November 24,
2009.
On November 14, 2009; A Temporary Food Permit was issued to Lynette
Paschollo who was the Food Vendor at the Grand Opening of the new
PNC Bank here at the new Giant.
On November 16, 2009; A Re-Inspection of 3605 Darby Road of the
interior of the property. Pictures were taken of the progress that
has been made. A re-inspection of the property will occur in early
January 2010.
On November 16, 2009; An Onsite Inspection to check on the property
at 3867 North 6th Street and the grass was not cut.
On November 16, 2009; A Court Hearing about the property at 3867
North 6th Street about the grass and the grass was not cut. DJ
Shugars advised us that he would try to assist the resident with
having the grass cut. A recheck of the property will occur on
Tuesday, November 24 to make sure that the grass has been cut.
On November 16, 2009; An Extensive Meeting with mark Saber, Manager
of the Penbrook Plaza about what to do with the ongoing situation at
2300 Walnut Street at the garage. Numerous violations were noted and
a violation letter will go out and to have the items removed or a
citation will be issued.
On November 16, 2009; An Onsite yard inspection at 1000 Brittany
Blvd. I was present to take pictures of the abandoned dwelling to
discover kids coming out of the structure and running away. Police
were notified and responding ere Ryan Lindsley, Chris Haines and
Kevin Scott. We went through the whole house and the house was
trashed. A citation has already been issued for not cutting the
grass. The grass will be cut by the highway crew and then a letter
will go out to the owners first to correct the outside violations
and if nothing occurs then the township will make the house secure.
On November 16, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 2124 Northview. Still not
cut and a citation has been issued. This property will be going to
the highway crew to cut.
On November 16, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 117 Wading Springs Lane
and still not cut. This property also will be going over to the
highway crew to cut. Citations will be issued.
On November 17, 2009; An Onsite Road Inspection with a township
resident, Rickie Hummel up in Roberts Valley Road about a dead deer
in a stream. The PA Game Commission was notified and I will recheck
on Friday, November 20 to make sure that the deer is removed.
On November 18, 2009; A Meeting at 112 Edgemont Road with Mr.
Spradley about the neighbor still not removing the bricks from 1110
Edgemont Road. No one was home and a card was left and then a letter
was posted on the outside of the door to have the bricks removed by
next Friday, November 17, 2009. A re-inspection will occur at that
time.
On November 18, 2009; An Extensive Onsite Yard and Structural
Inspection with George Drees, Fire Marshal at 2207 Walnut Street.
Pictures were taken and various code violations were noted. Also 6
vehicles out of inspection and registration on the next property and
letters went out to the owner of both properties who is the same
about the conditions and other violations.
On November 18, 2009; Restaurant Licenses went out for 2010.
On November 18, 2009; Pictures taken again at 1000 Brittany Blvd.
for various violations noted.
On November 23, 2009; A Meeting with Edward Ward from Penn Waste
about the Tag-A-Bag Program and how to start the program.
On November 23, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at the Shell Street
location of the Susquehanna Township Middle Schools ball field.
Parts of a turkey breast were smoked and the remnants were left
behind a billboard. The resident was advised to contact me if this
happens again to determine who is doing the dumping.
On November 24, 2009; A Housing Code and Yard Inspection occurred at
1001 South Progress Avenue, Apt. #2 and the only code violation that
was noted was the bathroom tub. I advised the owner of the property
to complete the job on the tub and contact me to have a
re-inspection before a new tenant moves in.
On November 30, 2009; A Skunk was taken down at 3224 South Scenic
Road. Assisting with the skunk death was Officers Demetrius Glenn
and Jill Rowe. The skunk was taken to the Department of
Agriculture’s Vet Lab and was examined. The results came back as
NEGATIVE for rabies.
On November 30, 2009; A Skunk was also taken down at Walnut
Crossings on Union Deposit Road. The same Officers assisted as
earlier in the day. The skunk was taken to the Department of
Agriculture’s Vet Lab and was examined. The results came back as
NEGATIVE for rabies.
