SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP
HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR NOVEMBER, 2007

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

On November 1, 2007; A Meeting with Janet Straw about her neighbor and the cats roaming the neighborhood.

On November 1, 2007; A Meeting with Tony Dosier from Kuzenknable Press about printing the Commercial brochures for recycling.

On November 1, 2007; A Re-Inspection at Scottsdale Apartments #1 and all of the violations have been corrected with the water leak and the case is now closed.

On November 6, 2007; Training with Cork from GS Graphics about producing violation notices on the new Permit System.

On November 7, 2007; An Onsite inspection at Charlie Brown’s for a sink hole and a return visit also was done. The problem needs to be completed for the sink hole.

On November 7, 2007; An On Site Inspection at 3403 and 3405 Walnut Street to have the highway crew clean up the property. The onsite inspection was made with David Dyer, Highway Superintendent and the work was done. A bill has been received and will be sent out and if no response for payment; a municipal lien will be applied to the residences.

On November 7, 2007; A meeting with Gary Myers, myself, and Bruce Foreman about the property located at 3673R North 4th Street and how to proceed with this situation.

On November 7, 2007; A meeting with Chief Martin, Gary Myers, and myself about the Humane Society and the new contract for 2008 with a huge increase in the fees for the township.

On November 7, 2007; A Re-Inspection of the property located at 2053 Chevy Chase Drive and the violation has not been corrected for the high grass and weeds. A citation was issued and other violations were noted. A separate violation letter went out for those violations.

On November 8, 2007; A Court Hearing with Penn Waste represented by Attorney Andrew Spears and Sheila Bortner for Penn Waste for Ted Russ. The case was for non-payment of the trash services.

On November 9, 2007; A Housing Code Inspection occurred at 3718 Walnut Street, Apartment #2 for the rodent infestation and also a meeting with the landlord followed the inspection.

On November 13, 2007; A Re-Inspection for the property at 2305 Canby Street with myself, and Albert Wrightstone, Jr., assisting with the re-inspection. No changes from the last inspection. Two more inspections to go before a report is done for DJ Shugars.

On November 13, 2007; A Re-inspection of the property at 3202 Batesfield Road to make sure that the backyard was cut for high grass and weeds. The property was cut and the case is now closed.

On November 14, 2007; A Re-Inspection was done at 104 Wild Lilac Court for the removal of the brush and the high grass in the backyard. The items were removed and the case is now closed.

On November 19, 2007; A CASA Executive Board Meeting was held here for the planning of upcoming CASA sessions.

On November 19, 2007; A Court Hearing for Ted Russ for illegal storage of vehicles at DJ Shugars office. All of the vehicles were removed and the case is now closed.

On November 19, 2007; A Court Hearing as a witness for 3718 Walnut Street, Apartment #2 for Ron Wiley, Sr.; landlord and the tenant of the property.

On November 19, 2007; A Court Hearing with Joseph Barnes for the accumulation of salvage goods which was found in June of this year at DJ Shugars office. He was found guilty by DJ Shugars.

On November 27, 2007; A Re-Inspection with myself, Albert Wrightstone, Jr., George Drees at 2305 Canby Street. The property looked much better and was cleaned up. A final re-inspection of the property is scheduled for December 11 and then a report will be done for DJ Shugars.

On November 27, 2007; A Re-Inspection of the property at 110A Cole Drive was done and all of the violations have been corrected. The case is now closed.

On November 28, 2007; A Re-Inspection was done at 2111 Herr Street and some new violations were noted and another re-inspection will be conducted in January.

On November 28, 2007; A Re-Inspection occurred at 2104 Walnut Street and many of the violations were still present. A re-inspection again will occur in January.

On November 29, 2007; A Re-Inspection occurred at 3500 Walnut Street with George Drees, Fire Marshall and all of the violations have been corrected. The case is now closed.

On November 29, 2007; A Re-Inspection occurred at 117 Wading Springs Lane with no change in the living conditions of the property. Another re-inspection will occur in mid January.
We are trying to see if any other agency could assist this elderly lady with her housing situation.

On November 30, 2007; A Meeting with DEP; Mark Vottero Recycling Coordinator for the State and also John Lundsted who runs the grant program for DEP for recycling were here to commend the township for their work on improving recycling within the township. The program here will be used as a model for other programs trying to incorporate both residential and commercial businesses into their contracts.

On November 30, 2007; A Re-Inspection at 3422 Schoolhouse Lane occurred with some significant change in the 1st floor but there is still work which needs to be done on the outside and the upstairs of the property. A re-inspection will occur in January.

On November 30, 2007; A Yard Inspection occurred at 1727 Evergreen Road to inform the new owner of the property what needs to be done with the bushes in the backyard.
