HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR OCTOBER, 2009

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

 On October 1, 2009; I attended the quarterly meeting of CASA at Sysco’s.

On October 2, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 3907 Schoolhouse Lane for violations with cars and no violations were present. No further action was needed.

On October 2, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 140 Lucknow Road with the owner of the property to discuss the neighbor’s tree and his yard.

On October 2, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 3853 North 6th Street for an inspection of a possibly dead tree. There will be more discussion on this situation.

On October 5, 2009; A Meeting at 2300 Walnut Street with Gerald Diaz concerning the dog bite that occurred on September 30, 2009. Officer Demitrius Glenn assisted. The quarantine goes from October 2 through till October 12. Officer Ryan Lindsley and I are filing charges on dangerous dog and the citation has been filed and now we wait till a hearing date is announced.

On October 6, 2009; A Court Hearing for Jeffrey Via at 140 Lucknow Road for the grass not being cut. The grass was cut and the citation was dismissed.

On October 6, 2009; A Court Hearing for Muhammad and Masroor Kaif at 408 Alden Street for the accumulation of trash and salvage goods on the back of their property. The violations have been removed and the citation was dismissed.

On October 6, 2009; A Court Hearing for Norman Rosen for the grass at the corner of Fargreen Road and Linglestown Road for the high grass and weeds that are still present at the intersection. DJ Shugars gave a continuance to make sure that the high grass and weeds are cut. He will be informed if the grass has been cut by Friday, October 16, 2009.

On October 6, 2009; A Court Hearing for Judith Rodriguez for 2 citations for a large accumulation of trash being present in the alley. She was advised very sternly by DJ Shugars that anymore citations issued and the maximum penalty will be followed.

On October 6, 2009; An Onsite meeting with myself and David Dyer, Highway Superintendent at 3853 North 6th Street about the tree in the back of the property. The resident was advised to see what his homeowner’s insurance could do for him and then report back to the township.

On October 7, 2009; I attended a One Day seminar on Property Maintenance at the Annual Pennboc Conference at the Holiday Inn on Lindle Road. This was about how to handle properties that you do not know who the owner is and also about the updates for the new 2009 Property Maintenance Code.

On October 8, 2009; A Court Hearing for Youssef and Octavy Bounader at 4308 Kota Avenue at DJ Shugars office. He was told to get the grass cut by October 15, 2009 when a return yard inspection will be made and inform DJ Shugars of the outcome.

On October 8, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 233 South 31st Street to check on the dumpster. There was an excessive amount of yard was material apparent in the dumpster and the neighbor was advised that the yard waste needed to be removed before the dumpster could be removed.

On October 8, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 213 Shell Street, Apt. #B-11 and numerous violations were noted. A repeat inspection will occur in early November.

On October 9, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 312 and 314 Oak Street to look at the bamboo. The discussion about the bamboo will continue here at the township with a meeting to held the morning of October 15, 2009.

On October 13, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 408 Alden Street to check and see if the residents had cut their grass. They had not and a formal letter of violation will be going out to have the grass cut.

On October 14, 2009; I visited various sites throughout the township including the property at 3403 Walnut Street with David Dyer, Highway Superintendent. A letter of violation to clean up the property and cut the grass will be going out to the property owner.

On October 14, 2009; An Onsite Inspection occurred at The Homes at Oakhurst. High Grass and Weeds were present. A formal letter will be going out for the violation.

On October 15, 2009; A Meeting with Gary Myers, Manager and Bruce Foreman, Solicitor concerning the bamboo at 314 and 312 Oak Streets.

On October 16, 2009; A Major walk through of the NEW Giant at Blue Mountain Commons with Greg Lux, Quality Compliance Manager and the Project Manager, Scott Harren.

On October 20, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 3621 North 6th Street and the accumulation looked much better.

On October 20, 2009; Temporary opening of the Bakery and the Carryout Café at the Giant at #447 to allow the new employees to begin training.

On October 22, 2009; An Executive Board Meeting here at the township building for CASA.

On October 22, 2009; A Major Inspection to open the new Giant. Everything looked really good except for the new Chinese Restaurant which will be inspected on Monday, October 25.

On October 25, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 1404 North 26th Street. Concerned with the swail and the sewer manifold . David Dyer assisted with the inspection. The land development plan will need to be checked to see if completion of the area is needed. The plans were examined and the completion is needed. A formal letter went out to the owner of the property to complete the project by Zoning Officer, Michael Rohrer.

On October 26, 2009; A Re-Inspection of the Giant and the new Chinese Restaurant-Taipei.
Some additional work is needed and will be completed and an inspection to finish will occur tomorrow.

On October 27, 2009; A Meeting with myself, David Dyer, Michael Rohrer and Albert Wrightstone, about the property at 1404 North 26th Street. The Subdivision plans were examined and the swail needs to be completed.

On October 28, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection with Albert Wrightstone, Jr.,, Building Inspector at 1101 Edgemont Road. We noticed that the beams were the ones seen in the fire. Albert issued a stop work order for the project. The owner of the project was contacted.

On October 28, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 117 Wading Springs Lane to check on the violations. Numerous violations were noted and a formal violation letter was sent out.

On October 29, 2009; A Walk through at Brother’s Pizza at Blue Mountain Commons. A return visit will occur on Friday, October 30, 2009.

On October 29, 2009; A Meeting with Gerald Diaz about the harboring of a dangerous dog. Officer Ryan Lindsley assisted with the discussion. We advised the defendant to request a hearing before DJ Shugars.

On October 30, 2009; A walk through at Brother’s Pizza. Some violations are remaining and a final inspection for opening will occur on Monday, November 2, 2009.

On October 30, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 2230 Boas Street. Some progress but a final re-inspection will occur on November 4, 2009.

On October 30, 2009; A Re-Inspection at 3548 North 6th Street and the trailer has been removed from the property. The case is now closed.
