SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP
HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR OCTOBER, 2007

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

On October 1, 2007; Commercial Brochure completed for the township and submitted to DEP for approval.

On October 1, 2007; A Yard inspection at 3608 North 6th Street and no violations were noted and the case is closed.

On October 2, 2007; A Re-Inspection at 2305 Canby Street with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. and Derrick Eger from Keystone Mental Health Services. Nothing has changed from the previous inspection.

On October 3, 2007; A Yard Inspection at 3953 Chestnut Street with an accumulation of loose trash present over the yard. A violation letter was sent out to clean up the trash.

On October 3, 2007; A Yard Inspection at 2305 Canby Street with no new violations being noted.

On October 4, 2007; A Yard Inspection at 2053 Chevy Chase Drive and High Grass and Weeds is present on the inside of the fence and a violation letter has been sent out for correction.

On October 4, 2007; A Housing Code Inspection at 110A Cole Drive and numerous violations were noted. A re-inspection of the property will occur in November.

On October 8, 2007; A Yard Inspection at 3611 North 6th Street and the violations were all corrected. The case is now closed.

On October 8, 2007; A Yard Inspection at 4380 North 6th Street with the owner of the property. Dead weeds exist around the outer perimeter of the property which needs to be cut and removed.
A follow-up inspection will occur during the week of October 22. All of the violations were corrected and the case is now closed.

On October 8, 2007; Yard Inspections occurred at 3226 and 3228 Brookfield Road to check on the violations and a violation letter has gone out to 3228 Brookfield Road for High Grass and Weeds around the property.

On October 9, 2007; A Yard Inspection at 2053 Chevy Chase Drive occurred with Eric Naguski from the Dauphin County Conservation District about the pool in the backyard for mosquitos. No mosquitos were found a trap will be set and the findings reported back to me.
The trap was set and no mosquitos were found that are responsible for carrying the West Nile Virus.

On October 9, 2007; A Re-Inspection of the property at 117 Wading Springs Lane with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., and some improvement has been made. A re-inspection will occur in November.

On October 10 and October 11, 2007; Lynn attended a 2-day CASA meeting at Sysco’s.

On October 12, 2007; A Titer clinic was done here at the township building for the staff and 69 titer tests were completed.

On October 15, 2007; A Re-Inspection of the property at 3643 North Front Street and the violations have been corrected The case is now closed.

On October 16, 1007; A Re-Inspection occurred at 2305 Canby Street with Russell Sowers, Derrick Eger from Keystone Mental Health Services, Albert Wrightstone, Jr., and Lynn Roche; along with the owner of the property attended the inspection. There were some improvements noted in the reduction in the amount of clutter in the house. Another inspection has already been scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, 3007.

On October 16, 2007; A Flu Shot Clinic for the staff and 75 people participated. Additional people are expected to use the service at Concentra Medical Center within the next week who were unable to make the clinic.

On October 17, 2007; A Re-Inspection of 2111 Herr Street occurred and some of the violations were corrected and some remain. Another e-inspection of the property will occur in November.

On October 23, 2007; A Yard Inspection at 1113 Whitehall Terrace about feeding the cats in the backyard and nothing was seen. The inspection was done without anyone knowing that I was coming.

On October 23, 2007; A Meeting with Janet Straw about her neighbor and the feeding of the cats occurred at her home at 1112 Whitehall Terrace.

On October 24, 2007; A Re-Inspection at 3422 Schoolhouse Lane and nothing has changed. Another re-inspection of the property is scheduled for end of November. If no improvement occurs additional citations will be issued.

On October 25, 2007; A Re-Inspection at 2400 Brown Street and some of the violations were corrected. A re-inspection was supposed to occur on Friday October 26 and also on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 and no one showed up for the re-inspection to allow entry sp citations will be issued for the remaining violations.

On October 25, 2007; A Dog Bite occurred while a resident was walking his two pittbulls and a Rottweiler broke his lead and starting coming at the pittbulls. The owner of the pittbulls tried to break up the fight and got bite on the left cheek. The Rottweiler is current on all shots including the Rabies vaccination. The animal is being quarantined at home till Sunday, November 4, 2007 and a health certificate is due to me by November 13, 2007.

On October 26, 2007; A Meeting with George Drees, Fire Marshal, Lynn Roche, Health Officer, Gary Myers, Manager and Lynn Fletcher about Partktowne Apartments. A letter was sent out to the resident concerning the decisions made at the meeting.

On October 29, 2007; A Court hearing at DJ Shugars office with Diane Buhl, Dauphin County Dog Warden for the Ward property. The Ward’s husky has had two dog bites within the month of August to two different victims and both of the victims were children. Minor injuries but one did require stitches. The animal is current on his shots but the hearing was about no dog license and Diane issued the citation and I was there as a witness to the incident. DJ Shugars ruling was very stiff and she has till November 20 to have the dog removed from the property or spend 30 days in jail.

On October 29, 2007; A Meeting with The Turner’s at 1113 Whitehall Terrace concerning the running-at-large of animals, feeding of cats and also to see if any additions to animals had occurred. No violations were noted and the case is closed for now.

On October 30, 2007;l A Re-Inspection occurred at 2305 Canby Street with Lynn Roche, Albert Wrightstone, Jr. , Derrick Eger and the owner of the property assisting with the re-inspection of the property. Some items were removed from the upstairs and no Fruit Flies were present. A CITATION WAS ISSUED IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON OCTOBER 30 IN VIOLATION OF THE NOISE ORDINANCE. THE OWNER OF THE PROPERTY WAS RUNNING THE VACCUM CLEANER AT 2:00A.M. Another inspection will occur on November 13, 2007.

On October 20, 2007; A Meeting with Janet Straw about the running-at-large of the cats.

On October 31, 2007; A Pre-Construction meeting with the Susquehanna Township Sewer Authority about the upcoming sewer project on Walnut Street and Sauer’s Road which will begin in November.

On October 31, 2007; A Yard Inspection at behind 3842 North Progress Avenue for a large accumulation of high grass and weeds. A violation letter will be sent out.
