On July 1, 2009;
A Visit at 2305 Canby Street over an odor on the back porch. The
situation was take care of by the owner of the property and there
was no violation. No further action was needed.
On July 2, 2009; A visit to Simply Turkey n’ More to give final
occupancy to the restaurant. Assisting with the inspection was
Albert Wrightstone, Jr. who issues the certificate of occupancy and
all of the violations were corrected. The Restaurant is now fully
functioning.
On July 2, 2009; An Onsite Inspection for a skunk at the Hetrick
Funeral Home. The skunk was removed by Nuisance Wildlife Removal and
a baby skunk was what was captured. The baby skunk was taken down
and was not rabid.
On July 7, 2009; An Extensive Emergency Inspection for raw sewage
back-up at 3503 Ridgeway Road. Problem found to be in the next door
neighbor’s lateral. The neighbor lives on Brookside Drive. I was on
site and the Susquehanna Township Sewer Authority was also on site
for about three hours to help solve the problem for the resident.
On July 8, 2009; A Return visit to 3503 Ridgeway Road to make sure
that the project had been completed and that everything was taken
care of. Everything was finished the case is now closed.
On July 9, 2009; A Re-Inspection at the property at 3621 North 6th
Street. A tremendous amount of progress has been made at the
property. The next re-inspection will occur in late August.
On July 13, 2009; An Extensive Meeting at 3500 Walnut Street with
the tenants of the Boarding House about non-smoking and other
violations that have been present at the structure. A George Drees,
Fire Marshal assisted with the meeting.
On July 14, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at The Brandywine Plaza to
see how the inlet was from the spill that was discovered last month.
The lab results indicated that it was a sodium or salt content. It
was recommended that the flushing of the system occur and removed
the remaining sodium on the rocks be done.
On July 15, 2009; A Housing Code and Yard Inspection at 3839 North
6th Street and various violations were noted. Albert Wrightstone,
Jr., assisted with the inspection. There are many violations present
at this property and a plan to solve this situation needs to be
discussed. The Dauphin County Area Agency on Aging has also been
contacted to assist with the situation.
On July 20, 2009; A Visit to Susquehanna Township High School
concerning a new device to warrant off flying insects. The device
was approved for use in the High School Cafeteria.
On July 20, 2009; A Court Hearing at DJ Shugars office with David
Dyer about leaves being placed on Township property. The defendant
admitted to doing this and was advised not to do this in the future.
The case was dismissed.
On July 20, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at Brandywine Plaza with
David Dyer and there is still some residue remaining on the rocks
and we will check with Gary on how to proceed from this point.
On July 21, 2009; A Housing Code Re-Inspection at 3605 Darby Road
with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. assisting. Tremendous amount of
progress was made and the next re-inspection will occur in August.
On July 21, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at Brandywine Plaza to check
on the stream. David Dyer and Gary Myers were present for the
inspection. Everything seems in order and the case is now closed.
On July 21, 2009; A Re-Inspection at 3422 Schoolhouse Lane occurred
and nothing has changed. The yard waste was still present and a
citation for the yard waste was done. Salvage goods are still
present in the house and it is getting worse. Albert Wrightstone,
Jr. assisted with the re-inspection. The next re-inspection will
occur in late August and additional citations will be issued if more
of the salvage goods are not removed.
On July 22, 2009; A Housing Code Re-Inspection at 4501 North Front
Street, Apt. #1 and all of the violations were corrected. The case
is now closed.
On July 22, 2009; An Alley inspection with David Dyer off of 38th
Street and a letter went out for overgrowth of the vegetation in the
alley and to have it cut back.
On July 22, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at Walnut Crossing, Apt.
G-303 about Bed Bugs. Walnut Crossings was advised to contact a
professional exterminator to have the extermination done. The
tenants were bite including guests that had come to visit. This is a
three step process and the first two applications have been done and
the third one will be done later in August.
On July 23, 2009; I attended the quarterly CASA meeting here at the
township building.
On July 24, 2009; Hepatitis B Series III Clinic to complete the
three part series here at the township.
On July 24, 2009; A Meeting with Kaniesha Carson at 3211 Wakefield
Road, Apt. #C concerning bed bugs. A Re-Inspection of her unit will
occur on Tuesday, July 28.
On July 24, 2009; A Meeting with Jeremy who works in the Wedgewood
Hills Leasing Office about the bed bugs issue that is apparent at
3211 Wakefield Road, Apt. #C and I am waiting on a reply from the
Corporate office.
On July 24, 2009; An Onsite Alley Inspection at 3540 North 6th
Street. A citation has been issued and another letter has been sent
out informing the resident of the violation. If this situation
continues then additional citations will be issued.
On July 24, 2009; Return visit to Walnut Crossings concerning the
bed bugs situation at Apt. #G-307. I spoke with Mande Brazell who is
the Community Manager for the complex about having the pest control
company check the adjoining units for bed bugs to ensure that the
other tenants are not experiencing problems.
On July 27, 2009; A Court Hearing for Josephine Knoll from 2305
Canby Street. Both of the citations were dismissed because of the
violations that the citations were written for are both corrected.
On July 27, 2009; A Return visit to Walnut Crossing about the Pest
Control coming to evaluate the other units.
On July 27, 2009; A Dog Bite occurred at 137 Oaklea Road. The shih
tu was no vaccinated at the time of the incident. A man was walking
down the street and the dog got excited and bite the man on the left
knee. No stitches were required. The dog was home quarantined and
then required to get up-to-date on all of his shots. The animal did
get all of his shots and return to the vet for a health check-up.
Everything was completed and the case will be closed after the
quarantine is up which is Monday, August 3.
On July 27, 2009; A Town Meeting for Commissioner Diane Bowman in
Ward 2 and a very good turnout for the session. Answered questions
concerning what I do and how situations are handled.
On July 28, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at Riverview Amoco for a
transformer possibly blowing out at the convenience store. They were
closed for about 24 hours. All of the perishable food was removed
from the store and disposed of properly. An inspection occurred
before they could re-open there doors. The cause of the power outage
was still under investigation. It was not a transformer that went
out.
On July 28, 2009; A Re-Inspection at 3211 Wedgewood Hills, Apt. #C
and spoke again with Jeremy in the office and still nothing to
report and no word from the corporate office. I will wait a little
longer and then send out a formal letter to the corporate office to
get some answers as to there policy to handle pest issues at the
complex.
On July 29, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection for Black Mold at Walnut
Crossing, G-107 and then the office again. The resident was advised
to have the sample tested to see if in fact that this was mold. Will
return to the site on Friday, July 31, 2009.
On July 31, 2009; An Onsite walk through at the future Channel
Rescue Food Rescue and things looked quite good. A final
re-inspection to get the facility up and running should occur within
the next two weeks.
On July 31, 2009; An Onsite meeting at Walnut Crossings with Mande
Brazell, Community Manager and discussed about the bed bugs
situation at G-303 and spoke with a technician from Terminix about
the treatment. Both the first application and the second application
have been completed.
On July 31, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at G-107 and spoke with Eric
who is the Head of the Maintenance Department for Morgan Properties
which owns Walnut Crossings. I discussed at length about the
problems with black mold, the pipes and the sheathing involved. Also
about re-venting the dryer vent. The tenants have been relocated to
a hotel until this situation is corrected.
I am now waiting on the results of the lab studies on the mold.
