HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR JULY, 2007

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

 On July 2, 2007; a yard inspection with George Drees was conducted to check the properties from 103-113 Lucknow Road for violations. Violations were found and noted with the owner.

On July 2, 2007; a yard inspection with David Dyer, Highway Superintendent at 2100 Forester Street and the garages and the High Grass and Weeds present on the property.

On July 2, 2007; an incident with concerning the peddler’s permit with Officer Ralph Martin assisting for the company Top Gun which was peddling within the township without a peddler’s permit and was advised twice before to obtain a permit and did not. A citation was issued.

On July 3, 2007; a meeting and an inspection with 111 Lucknow Road about 103-109 Lucknow Road and to have the properties cut and maintained. This is the set of row homes to be demolished with the new office complex building.

On July 3, 2007; an inspection at 3614 North 6th Street for alligators and other code violations present. The Susquehanna Township Police, Manager Gary Myers, Commissioner Don Houser, and Lynn Roche responded to the scene. The violations were corrected and the alligators were removed and relocated.

On July 3, 2007; an inspection at McDonald’s to check on the grease trap back-up that occurred with the next two buildings adjacent to the restaurant. The investigation is continuing.

On July 5, 2007; a visit at 201 South 31st Street with Officer Jason Reiber for a possible skunk and no skunk was found.

On July 5, 2007; a meeting at 8 Arrow Road with Diane Fagan, Manager of Progress Ridge Mobile Home Park and the owner of the property, Joseph Barnes.

On July 10, 2007; a re-inspection at 2305 Canby Street in the yard and a meeting with the owner of the property at 2307 Canby Street.

On July 12, 2007; a meeting with Alex Kerry, Officer Brooke Anthony and Dauphin County Dog Warden, Diane Buhl about the criteria for harboring a dangerous dog. A formal letter went out to all parties involved and will be retained on file. Any violation of the agreement and the dog will be declared dangerous.

On July 12, 2007; a Housing Code Inspection at 2111 Herr Street, Apts. #4 and #5 for numerous code violations and a re-inspection will occur in August.

On July 13, 2007; a meeting with Peter Valentine about the back-up with McDonald’s about the grease trap and how they are maintaining the grease trap.

On July 13, 2007; a Shirley Turner and Janet Straw court hearing at DJ Shugars and the result of the hearing was a conviction but no fine for placing food outside to attract neighborhood cats.

On July 13, 2007; a meeting with Janet Straw about her neighbor and what the township is going to do to stop the situation.

On July 16, 2007; a meeting with Steven Oswald-Quality Assurance Control Supervisor with Shop Rite Foods and Dana and Jason, Managers from the local Price Rite were present.

On July 16, 2007; a yard inspection at 3611 North 4th Street for the overgrowth of trees. A violation letter was sent out for the violation to be corrected.

On July 17, 2007; a re-inspection at 2305 Canby Street to check on the odor present at the property and no odor was present. The case will continue to be open and another inspection is scheduled for August.

On July 18, 2007; a yard inspection at 133A Lucknow Road was done about a compost pile at the neighbor’s and a violation letter was sent out to the neighbor.

On July 18, 2007; a re-inspection of the property at 3422 Schoolhouse Lane with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. and a little progress was made. The resident was informed to have the place at least 50% cleaned up or a citation will be issued. Next inspection is August 8, 2007.

On July 18, 2007; a re-inspection at 3619 North 6th Street and all of the violations previously noted have been corrected. The case is now closed.

On July 19, 2007; Lynn Roche attended the quarterly CASA meeting.

On July 20, 2007; a yard inspection at 2305 Canby and 2307 Canby Street for a foul smelling odor coming from moth balls in the backyard.

On July 23, 2007; a mid way construction inspection occurred at the New Jade Buffet and the final inspection will occur in late August.

On July 23, 2007; a re-inspection at 2305 Canby Street for her car with a large accumulation of trash and salvage goods sticking out of the car. A citation was issued.

On July 23, 2007; a meeting with Staci, the owner of Michael’s Pizza and Deli to discuss the problems associated with the restaurant and a follow-up inspection with occur in the beginning of August.

On July 24, 2007; Court of Common Pleas hearing about 3027 Walnut Street and the 7 fines were reduced and the jailtime was removed and the case is now closed.

On July 24, 2007; an inspection at 3214 Sunnyside Avenue for a skunk in the trash can and the skunk was left loose and ran into the bushes. The skunk was not taken down.

On July 26, 2007; a meeting with Carol Turner and an onsite Inspection at the Price Rite about the dumpster pad and that it needed to be repaired. The open top roll-off container needs to be removed by Friday, August 3, 2007 or the Price Rite will be closed until the food material is removed from the premises and the necessary repairs made.

On July 26, 2007; a meeting with Dana at the Price Rite about the status of the dumpster site and how to go about fixing the problem.

On July 30, 2007; an inspection at 2110 Columbia Avenue with Officer Rich Wilson to check on a caged groundhog. No case. The animal was just upset to be in a cage.

On July 30, 2007; yard inspections with Keith Hummel from Penn Waste and the addresses checked were 118 Short Street, 3 Shell Street and 3513 Hillcrest Road. All of the situations were taken care of on site.

On July 31, 2007; a meeting with Linda Crone about the fly problem with the New Beijing #1 Restaurant and also with Penn Waste and Carol Turner concerning the same issue. The issue is still being resolved.

On July 31, 2007; a Possum check at 504 South 36th Street with Officer Rich Wilson and no possum was found. No case.
