HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR JUNE, 2008

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

On June 2, 2008; 2 Dog Bites. One dog bite at 101 Brookwood Terrace where two boys were playing and a dog got excited and nipped the other boy. The dog was vaccinated and quarantined for 10 days at home. A health certificate was provided and the case is now closed.
Second dog bite occurred at Spruce Street when a dog came out of the house and was jumping up and down on a little boy and bite the boy on the left side of the face. Minor cut. No stitches were required and the animal was vaccinated. The dog was quarantined at home and a health certificate was forwarded to me. The case is now closed.

On June 3, 2008; A Yard Inspection occurred with David Dyer, Highway Superintendent for the trees on Appletree Road, Crooked Hill Road, and Paxton Church Road, Highland Avenue and Locust Lane and violation letters were sent out to all of the addresses.

On June 4, 2008; A Yard Inspection at 3607 Meadow Lane with a large amount of brush and compost next to the neighbor’s fence. The complaint also needs to cut his poison ivy and a repeat inspection of the complaint’s house will occur tomorrow.

On June 4, 2008; A Meeting with Laszczak Bogimila at 105 Willow Court about the trash and how things work with Penn Waste. She is from Poland and doesn’t understand the ways of here in America.

On June 5, 2008; A Re-Inspection at 3422 Schoolhouse Lane and a tremendous amount of progress has occurred in the house. Another re-inspection will occur in July.

On June 9, 2008; A Housing Code at 3590 Mobile Road and various health code issues existed and a violation letter has gone out to the owner to fix the violations. A repeat inspection will occur in July.

On June 10, 2008; A Yard Inspection occurred at 2708 Gateway Court about overgrowth of trees coming from Kings Manor Apartments. A letter of violation has gone out to trim the vegetation back till July 15, 2008 and a re-inspection will occur at that time.

On June 10, 2008; A Meeting at 3901 Jonestown Road to have the trash picked up more frequently and not allow the trash to accumulate and spread all over the ground. A repeat inspection occurred on Friday, June 13, 2008 and no change. So a formal letter went out to have the trash kept on the property and cleaned up.

On June 10, 2008; An Angel Touch Massage Therapy salon was inspected and no violations were noted.

On June 11, 2008; A Meeting with Joe Berlin over the moving of Bagel Lover’s from Oakhurst Plaza over to The Brandywine Plaza.

On June 12, 2008; Driving around and looking at properties at 3907 Schoolhouse Lane, Apple Creek Farms and 300 Fishburn Street for violations. Violation letters went out for the violations.

On June 12, 2008; A Recheck at ACI Markets to open the new snack bar and a recheck will be done the following week to make sure thing are being done according to code once they are up and running.

On June 12, 2008; A Yard Inspection to discuss the Rottweiler situation which exists at 3630 Ash Street. This is an ongoing issue with the dog running-at-large and terrorizing the neighborhood. I, David, Dyer, Highway Superintendent, Patrolman Kevin Scott and Intern Tyler Morgan assisted with the situation. A citation was issued for running-at-large for the Rottweiler
Going through the neighborhood.

On June 12, 2008; A Yard Inspection occurred at 124 Fort Hunter Road at the request of HRG’s Sewage Enforcement Officer, Bob Whitmore where an apartment complex is not repairing a septic system which is failing.

On June 13, 2008; A Hepatitis B III series was completed. A titer clinic will be held on Friday, August 8, 2008 for everyone.

On June 13, 2008; An Onsite Inspection with Dean Dietrich about fryer oil being dumped down the drain at the Dauphin Plaza which is owned by Dauphin Associates. Associated Products was called in to clean up the matter and since this is a private storm drain; the highway crew from the township did not become involved. The suspicion is one of the restaurants dumped fryer oil down the storm drain.

On June 17, 2008; A Housing Code Re-Inspection occurred for Josephine Knoll and she has saw tooth beetles in the back cupboard of the property. She also has loose trash out to have removed by tomorrow or to be cited. A bush out front needs to be cut back. A repeat inspection will occur on Monday, June 30, 2008 to make sure all of the violations have been corrected or a citation will be issued.

On June 17, 2008; Another dog bite occurred at 1412 Smokehouse Lane and the dog is vaccinated. The door was not secured and the yellow Lab go out and was scared and snapped at the neighbor. The police responded to a possible burglary and the dog is current on his shots. A home quarantine was done and I am awaiting a health certificate to close the case.

On June 18, 2008; An inspection with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. at Scoops at Rockville. Plans are needed, an electrical permit and a building permit is needed to proceed with the project. The project will be completed at a later date.

On June 18, 2008; An Onsite Inspection at the Old A taste of India Restaurant and Lucknow Road row houses to see what needs to be done with these properties. Albert Wrightstone, Jr. assisted with the inspection. A formal letter will be going out to have the houses demolished on Lucknow Road and also the porch at the old restaurant. There are other violations that need to be corrected and the company has until July 15, 2008 to have the violations corrected.

On June 18, 2008; Application was made for the 902 Grant for 2 new leaf vacuum machines and a new dump truck for the Highway department.

On June 18, 2008; An Onsite Inspection occurred at 2608 and 2610 Gateway Drive with George Drees, Fire Marshal for a possible chemical leak. Progress Fire Company assisted and a container of gas/oil mixture was found in a gallon container which and a hole in which caused the seeping allowing the oil/gas mixture to seep out all over the shelves in the shed. This was a very serious situation and truthfully an accident waiting to happen but nothing did and everything was corrected on site.

On June 18, 2008; A Yard Inspection occurred with Brian Long about an illegal dumping occurring near his new home at 1600 Rome Terrace. Will recheck the situation and a letter will go out to Triple Crown Corporation to have all of the material removed.

On June 19,2008; A meeting at 1412 Smokehouse Lane to have the owners of the dog sign the quarantine statement and see the dog for the dog bite.

On June 20, 2008; A Housing Code Inspection was conducted at 3420 North 6th Street for bed bugs in Apartments A and B. An ongoing discussion is occurring with the landlord to have this matter corrected as soon as possible.

On June 20, 2008; A re-inspection of the property at 3607 Penbrook Avenue to make sure that the poison was removed from his side of the property and some more needs to be removed.

On June 24, 2008; A Housing Code Re-Inspection occurred at 117 Wading Springs Lane with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector and more progress has been made with the house.

On June 24, 2008; An Onsite Inspection at Price Rite for the compactor at the back of the store. The meeting was with the manager, Jason and the District Manager, Joshua Bartholomew about how to fix the problem and repair the concrete bed under the compactor.

On June 26, 2008; Lynn hosted a CASA Executive Board meeting here at the township building.

On June 27, 2008; A Housing Code Inspection occurred at 3414 Walnut Street, Apt. #6 at the request of the landlord, Michael Murphy to make sure that the violations that were present were caused by the tenant and not by the landlord. A re-inspection will occur before a new tenant moves into the unit.

On June 27, 2008; A Yard Inspection occurred at 2305 Canby Street and no violations were noted.

On June 27, 2008; A Yard Inspection at 1545 Appletree Road for a hot tub which was put out for the trash and is too large to go in the back of the trash truck. Resident was advised to either take the hot tub to a land fill or cut it in half.

On June 30, 2008; A Housing Code Re-Inspection occurred at 2305 Canby Street for checking on the saw tooth beetles to see if they were removed and also if the bush out front was cut. All of the violations were corrected and a re-inspection will occur in July.

On June 30, 2008; A Yard Re-Inspection occurred at 3207 Penbrook Avenue and all of the poison ivy on his side of the fence has been corrected and now the other resident on Meadow Lane needs to complete there part.

On June 30, 3008; A yard inspection to check into Apple Creek Farms, and Martina Drive.
Violation letters will go out accordingly.
