HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR JUNE, 2007

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

 On June 1, 2007; a yard inspection was conducted at 2305 Canby Street and visit with Leslie Roberson at 2307 Canby Street was also done.

On June 1, 2007; a yard inspection at 1114 Cherrington Court about trash and dirt. A letter went out to PMI who manages the property and the problem is to be corrected by June 22, 2007.
All of the items were corrected and the case is now closed.

On June 4, 2007; a yard inspection at 3836 Locust Lane to see if the new porch was completed and it was. The case is now closed.

On June 4, 2007; a yard inspection at 3813 Kinglsey Court to check on violations in the yard and a vehicle. The resident was given to send of the month to have the items removed.

On June 4, 2007; a yard inspection at 2305 Canby Street and a citation was issued for trash.

On June 4, 2007; a Dog bite occurred at 2018 Alexis Drive and Officer Brooke Anthony was also bitten by the same dog on the same day at the same location. The animal was current on his rabies shots and the owner home quarantined the animal. Officer Anthony and I are considering going after dangerous dog for this animal.

On June 5, 2007; an Inspection at 4505 Fargreen Road for animals in the backyard with Zoning Officer Michael Rohrer and everything was in order and there is no case.

On June 5, 2007; a yard inspection with Zoning Officer Michael Rohrer at 733 Wilhelm Road to check on the status of the trailer. A citation was to be issued by Michael Rohrer for the trailer and a violation letter sent for the vehicle and the high grass and weeds present on the property.

On June 6, 2007; a meeting with Janet Straw about the neighbor’s cats.

On June 6, 2007; a re-inspection at 3585 Marshfield Road with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector assisting with the inspection and all of the violations were corrected. The case is now closed.

On June 6, 2007; a posting of 2305 Canby Street for a housing code inspection for the breakfast room to be done on June 7, 2007.

On June 6, 2007; a meeting with Edward Ward, Scott Wagner, Gary Myers, Commissioner Wendy Johnson, Lynn Roche, and Solicitor Bruce Foreman about the increase in the trash for the CPI of $.50 per quarter starting with the 4th quarter billing through the first and second quarters of 2008.

On June 6, 2007; a meeting about the property at 2305 Canby Street with Gary Myers, Bruce Foreman, and Lynn Roche to determine the best course of action to take to correct these violations.

On June 7, 2007; a housing code re-inspection with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector at 118 Short Street to see if the violations have been corrected. All of the violations have been corrected except for the installation of the new windows. The inspection for the windows will be done towards the end of the month.

On June 7, 2007; a re-inspection of the breakfast room at Josephine Knoll’s house for urine smell and 2 citations have been issued. The next full inspection is scheduled for June 14, 2007.

On June 8, 2007; a court hearing for Jean Potteiger at 3648 North 6th Street and the case was dismissed.

On June 11, 2007; a CASA Executive Board Meeting was held here at the township building.

On June 122, 2007; a housing code inspection at 213 Shell Street, Apartment #C-9 to see if any violations are present. Violations were present and a re-inspection will be scheduled for July.

On June 12, 2007; an inspection at 3258, Apt. #C at Wedgewood Hills at Wakefield Road and some of the violations were noted and a violation letter was sent out to the complex. A re-inspection of the property will be held in July.

On June 12, 2007; a meeting with Gary Myers, Chief Robert Martin, and Lynn Roche to discuss Josephine Knoll and see how to proceed with this situation.

On June 12, 2007; a meeting with Janet Straw about her neighbor and her neighbor’s cats.

On June 12, 2007; a re-inspection at 3 Linn Street, Apt. #1 and most of the violations have been corrected but the case will be kept open to make sure the violations are corrected.

On June 12, 2007; a re-inspection at 3258 Wakefield Road, Apt. #A to check the violations. The apartment is under construction and a re-inspection will be conducted on June 26, 2007 to see the apartment.

On June 13, 2007; a meeting with Hoyt and Marie Glover about the property located at 2501 Locust Lane and the violations that have been present at the property.

On June 14, 2007; a housing code re-inspection with George Drees, Fire Marshal at 1005 Cherrington Court for a 3 month re-inspection of the property. All of the violations have continued to be corrected and the case is now closed.

On June 14, 2007; a re-inspection of Josephine Knoll’s house with George Drees, Fire Marshal assisting. The house looks better and another re-inspection is scheduled for June 28, 2007.

On June 14, 2007; Mr. Skunk at 3810 Maple Street with assistance from George Drees, Fire Marshal and Officer Ralph Martin. The animal was shot and taken to the Dept. of Ag. lab and Mr. Skunk was found to be RABID on late Friday afternoon. No human or animal exposure to the animal.

On June 15, 2007; a yard inspection at 3291 Trinity Road to check on some trees in his neighbor’s yard. A violation letter has gone out to his neighbor about the trees.

On June 18, 2007; a re-inspection of 118 Short Street to see if the windows have been installed and they have been. The case is now closed.

On June 18, 2007; a yard inspection at 165 Oaklea Avenue to check on the status of the deck of one of the residents in the backyard. Another yard inspection will be set up for next week.

On June 18, 2007; a yard inspection at 2305 Canby Street and a citation was issued for spoiled food sitting in the backyard.

On June 18, 2007; a yard inspection at 403 Belvedere Road and again on June 19 for code violations. A violation letter has been sent out to have the items addressed in the backyard.

On June 19, 2007; a yard inspection at 1709 Fox Hunt Drive to discuss the bamboo in their backyard which is infringing on the neighbor’s backyard.

On June 19, 2007; a yard inspection at Cherrington Drive with Todd from Kline’s Landscaping to make sure they know what needs to be cut for the landscaping.

On June 21, 2007; a hearing with Health Board for Michael’s Pizza and Deli to try to straighten things out and have the owners understand the rules and how they are to be followed. Lynn Roche will set up a meeting in July to go over procedures with the owners and the employees.

On June 26, 2007; 2nd Skunk was killed at 311 Stuart Place and the animal was NOT RABID.
No human or animals exposures. The animal was again taken to the Dept of Agriculture’s vet lab for testing.

On June 26, 2007; a housing code inspection at 105 Shell Street where the landlord was not present and another inspection needs to be made with the landlord and another inspection will be set up with the landlord present.

On June 26, 2007; a re-inspection at 3258 Wakefield Road, Apartments #A and #C to see if the violations have been corrected or not. Apartment #C still has some violations that needs to be corrected and the case will be kept open.

On June 28, 2007; a 3rd skunk was taken down by Officer Chris Haines at 311 South 31st Street and the skunk was transported to the Dept. of Agriculture’s vet lab and came back NOT RABID.

On June 28, 2007; a re-inspection at 2305 Canby Street and things looks really good. A re-inspection will not occur until August unless a new complaint comes up. The inspection was conducted with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector.

On June 28, 2007; a re-inspection at 3416 North 6th Street to see if the violations have been corrected and all of the violations have been corrected except for the back picnic table which needs to be cleaned up from tools.

On June 28, 2007; a re-inspection at 3422 Schoolhouse Lane with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. Building Inspector assisting and some progress has been made but more needs to be done. Another follow-up inspection will occur in late July.

On June 29, 2007; a housing code re-inspection took place at 3643 North Front Street to see if the tenant had cleaned up the apartment or citations would have been issued. All of the violations have been corrected. The case will still be kept open until the tenant has moved and the apartment can be re-inspected.

On June 29, 2007; another yard inspection occurred for skunks at 306 Stuart Place and no skunks were present and the nothing was done.

On June 29, 2007; a court hearing at DJ Shugars office for the Wedgewood Apts. Apt. #C and no decision was made at the time of the hearing and a decision is being waited on by the DJ.

On June 29, 2007; Code Red in Wards 5 and 6 was done with Brad Reist, EMA director to warn residents in those areas of the skunks problem.

On June 29, 2007; a court hearing for 4216 North Progress Avenue about the parking and selling of cars on the edge of the property and the son was residing in the property. All of the vehicles have been removed and the case was dismissed.

On June 29, 2007; a revisit at 8 Arrow Road to check on the status of the trailor.

On June 30, 2007; a skunk in the 4300 block of North 6th Street was taken down and a raccoon was taken down in Pheasant Hills and both animals were taken by the police to the Dept. of Agriculture’s vet lab and both of the animals came back POSITIVE FOR RABIES. No human or animal exposures were noted.
