HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR MARCH, 2008

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

On April 1, 2008; A Re-Inspection of 322 Woodland View Court to check on the loose trash that was present in the low areas. All of the loose trash was removed and the case is now closed.

On April 1, 2008; A Housing Code Inspection occurred at 3400 Old Orchard Road, Apt. #B and no violations were noted.

On April 2, 2008; A Yard Inspection occurred at 3621 North 6th Street and numerous violations were noted. A re-inspection of the property will occur at the end of May.

On April 2, 2008; A tour around the township with George Drees, Fire Marshall to check out properties that needed correction within the township. Properties looked at were 1306 North 25th Street, 2422 Columbia Avenue, Illegal Dumping site at the Harrisburg State Hospital, 1116 Edgemont Road and 2305 Oxford Avenue.

On April 8, 2008; A Meeting with Weis Markets and the Quality Control Managers, Regional Directors for Weis Markets from Sunbury to ensure that things go on track and a follow-up inspection will occur shortly.

On April 9, 2008; I was a guest speaker at the Nutrition Conference for the Area Agency on Aging to discuss inspecting Senior Citizen Centers.

On April 10, 2008; A Yard Inspection at 28 Fishburn Street about the squirrels getting into the
Property through a hole and nesting. The squirrels are coming from next door or 26 Fishburn Street. A follow-up inspection will occur in May.

On April 10, 2008; An On Site Inspection at 4683 and 4883 Margaret’s Grove over a dispute between two property owners are to where to place the trash cans. There was really no issue. Assisting with the onsite inspection was Keith Hummel, On Site Supervisor from Penn Waste.

On April 10, 2008; A Yard and Housing Code Inspection at 3803 Locust Lane with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. assisting with the inspection and numerous violations were noted. A repeat inspection is scheduled for the end of May.

On April 11, 2008; A Yard Inspection was conducted based on a phone call from Edward Ward from Penn Waste concerning a roll-off dumpster to be provided FREE of charge for the residents at 1106 Edgemont Road to assist with the removal of debris from a fire last June on the property. A 20 yard roll-off was used and filled and removed free of charge provided by Penn Waste.

On April 15, 2008; A Re-Inspection at 2305 Canby Street for Josephine Knoll with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., assisting with the inspection. Major problems from this inspection. Food and debris throughout the whole house and a repeat inspection will occur next week because of how terrible it was.

On April 15, 2008; A Meeting with Leslie Roberson, owner of the property at 2307 Canby Street about her finding mice at her home and an unlicensed and unregistered car in the back of the property.

On April 15, 2008; An Onsite inspection at 1106 Edgemont Road to make sure that all of the material was removed and the dumpster could be picked up by Penn Waste. Everything was removed that was needed and Penn Waste will pick up the material within a couple of days.

On April 15, 2008; A Housing Code Inspection was conducted at 110A Cole Drive and numerous violations were noted. A re-inspection of the property will occur in May.

On April 17, 2008; A Meeting with Tracey Lewis, Esquire concerning Josephine Knoll and the long history that the township has with this resident. The case has gone on for 27 years.

On April 18, 2008; A Yard Inspection at 1306 North 25th Street and a discussion with Dean Whitaker, owner of the property and what was going to happen from here. He is going to have dumpsters on side to remove the debris.

On April 21, 2008; A Meeting with Catherine Boggs at 3942 North 6th Street about feeding a stray cat and the cat biting her. The Dauphin County Department Area Agency on Aging was contacted to assist with this resident because of the age of 83 for this resident.

On April 21, 2008; A Yard Inspection at 1909 Clayton Avenue for trash issues and a violation letter was sent out to correct the problem.

On April 22, 2008; A Yard Inspection was conducted by myself and David Dyer about 3907 Schoolhouse Lane concerning the drainage issues and the obstructions of brush found along the side of the creek which needs to be removed. The extra brush is creating a dam on the stream and is hindering the passage of water and needs to be removed.

On April 22, 2008; A Meeting with Mr. Ronald Leo from Ridgeway Road about the neighbor and a Yard Inspection was done at the scene of the property. He stated that the neighbor’s tree is growing over unto his property . There is also some drainage issues associated with this complaint from one property over to the other property.

On April 22, 2008; A Housing and Yard Inspection was done at 3505 Ridgeway Road and issues of mold were discussed. The residents were also informed of the concerns of the next door neighbor’s concerning their property. A re-inspection of the property will occur in late May.

On April 23, 2008; I attended the CASA Executive Board meeting here at the township building for the upcoming events for the rest of 2008.

On April 23, 2008; A Meeting with Mr. Ronald Leo again about the neighbor with Gary Myers, Manager assisting with the situation.

On April 24, 2008; A Re-Inspection of the property located at 2305 Canby Street. All of the violations that had been there at the earlier inspection were removed. The next inspection will occur on Tuesday, May 14, 2008 at 9:00a.m.

On April 24, 2008; A Housing Code Re-Inspection for the property located at 3422 Schoolhouse Lane. 2 Citations were issued because of very little change in the appearance of the salvage goods throughout the house. Another re-inspection will occur in late May.

On April 29, 2008; A Housing Code Re-Inspection occurred at 117 Wading Springs Lane. Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector assisted with the inspection. Tremendous change in the house and a lot of the salvage goods have now been removed. I have issued another re-inspection of the property to occur in June.

On April 30, 2008; A Meeting with Mary Beck from Maple Restaurants concerning the Taco Bell on Front Street. The inspection went well and very minor violations
