HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR MARCH, 2009

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

On March 3, 2009; An Extensive meeting with Greg Gainer from Ehrlich, and Brian from the Maintenance Team at Dauphin Plaza as to what is needed to be done. Two of the vacant spots needs to be re-cleaned and a re-inspection of those areas needs to be done on March 5, 2009. Ehrlich is to begin the treatment of the common areas, including the ceilings and formulate a plan of action and get back in touch with me by March 6, 2009.

On March 3, 2009; A Meeting at the new and coming Billy D’s Ice Cream Shoppe. I, Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector and Laura and Bob Daniels; owners of the Ice Cream Shoppe to see how the construction is progressing.

On March 3, 2009; A Meeting with a resident at 1204 Laurelwood Drive about an incident with a snake that occurred last summer. She wanted to thank me and the other officer who responded to her assistance.

On March 5, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 2402 Brown Street-No tenant or landlord were present and this is the second time this has occurred. A third re-inspection is scheduled for Monday March 23, 2009.

On March 5, 2009; An Extensive Meeting at Dauphin Plaza over the mice infestation. I met with the maintenance manager and Greg Gainer from Ehrlich. A re-inspection of all of the vacant places and the 2 open units need to have the problems addressed before Ehrlich can begin their treatment.

On March 5, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 212 Saddle Ridge Drive for the owner before placing the home on the market. No problems were found and a letter was sent out to the owner informing them.

On March 5, 2009; An Onsite meeting at the garage on Fort Hunter Road for the property for several maintenance issues, zoning issues, building issues and the garage is being occupied by Harper construction.

On March 6, 2009; An Extensive Meeting with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector, Ron Yoffee fro Middle Department and myself. Things are still needing to be addressed before they can open. Another inspection will occur at some point over the next week.

On March 9, 2009; An extensive meeting with Keith Hummel from Penn Waste about the issues going on with the trash.

On March 9, 2009; A Meeting with the new Sandella’s Flatbread Café at the former Moe’s Southwest Grille site to walk through the Old Restaurant and see how things are. They are expecting to open up in May.

On March 10, 2009; A Meeting at the Dauphin County Advisory Board for Dauphin County Solid Waste Authority-18 members were present at the time of the welcoming meeting. This meeting was just for each of the members to meet and discuss where to go from here.

On March 10, 2009; A Meeting with Greg Gainer from Ehrlich as to where and what course of action is recommended to solve the mice infestation at Dauphin Plaza.

On March 11, 2009; A Commercial Recycling Meeting here at the township building. 36 businesses participated. I, Mark Vottero, Walt Dinda, and John Lundsted were all present representing DEP, Kelly Wolf from the Dauphin County Recycling Coordinator for the Solid Waste Authority. Also present were Penn Waste and who was here were Carol Turner, Edward Ward and Mono Mondo.

On March 11, 2009; A Meeting with Walt Dinda, Mark Vottero and John Lundsted and myself about changing the recycling and trash ordinance to include community events. It will be the main topic at the next Health Board meeting in March.

On March 12, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 3424 Walnut Street with George Drees, Fire Marshal and some violations were noted. A re-inspection will occur in April.

On March 12, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 1121 Cardiff Street. No violations were present at this property but the violations listed at 1124 Norwall Street will be addressed.

On March 13, 2009; A Housing Code and yard inspection at 140 Lucknow Road to check on the outside of the property. Major repairs needs to be completed to the exterior of the property. A letter of violation will go out and then a re-inspection

On March 13, 2009; An Extensive onsite meeting at Dauphin Plaza with David Horst from Ehrlich and did a walk through of the old Harry’s Hot Wings and The Bagel Café to see what they had done for the treatment. The first stage of the treatment has been completed and we are not waiting for the outcome of the first treatment.

On March 16, 2009; A Court Hearing with James Scott Garner and he was told that he has 60 days in order to have me come back in and re-inspect the home at 3935 North 6th Street and then have all of the violations completed before the continence hearing on May 28. If not then all of the citations will stand and possible jail time.

On March 16, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 254 and 258 Saddle Ridge Road for the befouling of the property of their dogs allowing it to accumulate and creating a nuisance for the neighbors. Letters of violations have been sent out.

On March 17, 2009; A Re-Inspection at 3424 Walnut Street for another housing code inspection to see some additional concerns that the tenant has and then a letter from both inspections will go out to the owner of the property.

On March 17, 2009; A Re-Inspection at 3422 Schoolhouse Lane and the side porch is almost removed with the dumpster being placed in the street. Major improvement also inside upstairs. Another re-inspection will occur in late April to see about the inside of the property.
