HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR MARCH, 2007

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

 On March 1, 2007; The Pines Apartments, Inspection at Apart. #N21 for problems with the stove. The stove wasn’t level and needed to readjusted.

On March 5, 2007; a Meeting with Janet Straw about the cat situation with her neighbor and the changes that would be forthcoming in the new animal ordinance.

On March 5, 2007; a Dog Bite at 1978 Daybreak Circle. The animal got loose while the owner was walking the dog; the animal is vaccinated and the quarantine was done at the home. A health certificate was provided by Friday, March 16, 2007. The case is now closed.

On March 6, 2007; a Yard Inspection at 3029 Walnut Street to check and see if the trash and salvage goods were removed from the property. All of the items were removed.

On March 6, 2007; a Yard Inspection at 819 South Progress Avenue for a tree to be taken down in the backyard of the property. The tree has been removed from the electrical wires.

On March 7, 2007; a Meeting at Quality Food Market about a backflow prevention device which was not installed properly. The pipe had to be cut off for an air gap and then a backflow prevention device attached at the bottom of the pipe.

On March 7, 2007; a meeting with Penn Waste-Scott Wagner, owner and Lynn Rorhbaugh about the Certificate of Occupancy issued by the township about obtaining addresses that are not being billed for services rendered.

On March 9, 2007; a Housing Code Inspection at 2609 North 2nd Street for re-occupancy with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector following a fire. The structure looks very good. This is the old Holmes property and is ready for them to move back into.

On March 9, 2007; a Re-Inspection at The Pines Apartments at Apartment #N-21 with the Manager of the complex and the tenants of the unit for the electric stove which is not level and has been creating a hazard for the tenants. The matter was resolved on site.

On March 12, 2007; a Housing Code and Yard Inspection at 2224 Walnut Street with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector and George Drees, Fire Marshall assisting with the inspection. Numerous violations were noted and the property was re-placarded as UNFIT FOR HUMAN HABITATION. This was originally done on August 4, 2005.

On March 12, 2007; a Re-Inspection at 2107 Walnut Street for the heating situation. The heating situation is still not resolved. The Landlord is being very difficult. A full re-inspection of the property will occur on March 27, 2007 with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. assisting.

On March 12, 2007; a Pre-Operational inspection with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector for the new Nationwide Café. A full pre-operational inspection will occur on Thursday, March 22, 2007 to have the facility read to re-open on Monday, March 26, 2007.

On March 13, 2007; a meeting with Janet Straw about the neighborhood cats the neighbor’s across the street and new ordinance which took effect on Friday, March 9, 2007.

On March 14, 2007; a meeting with Edward Ward, Jr., representing Penn Waste with the concerns over problems with the Customer Service department and the problems with audit that was conducted by them.

On March 22, 2007; Non-Profit Food Training for the churches and other non-profit organizations within the township. A new church has come on board and needed to be trained.

On March 23, 2007; a Housing Code Re-Inspection for Josephine Knoll occurred at 2305 Canby Street and all of the violation had been corrected. The house looked very well. A follow-up inspection will be scheduled for June. A letter indicating when will be sent out closer to the time.

On March 23, 2007; a Housing Code Re-Inspection at 1005 Cherrington Drive occurred with George Drees, Fire Marshal assisting. All of the violations have been corrected. A follow-up inspection will be scheduled for June and a letter indicating when will be sent out closer to the time.

On March 27, 2007; a Yard Inspection occurred at 4020 Crooked Hill Road for unlicensed vehicles. No progress was made with the situation and the owners of the property have requested a hearing at the Health Board meeting. A hearing will be set.

On March 27, 2007; a Re-Inspection of the property at 2107 Walnut Street for the violations. All of the violations were corrected and the case is now closed.

On March 28, 2007; an Inspection with Albert Wrightstone, Jr; Building Inspector at 24 Deckart Road and some violations were found. A repeat inspection will occur at the end of April.

On March 30, 2007; a Yard Inspection at 3621 North 6th Street and some progress has been made and a re-inspection will be scheduled for May.

On March 30, 2007; an extensive meeting with Randy Zeigler, manager at Wendy’s on Front Street over problems that have been continuing to occur with the NEW 4-Alarm sandwich. I received a complaint from the Dept. of Ag. about the product being under cooked. A thorough investigation occurred over the situation. Randy and I went through the proper procedures for handling the product from beginning to end to ensure that this does not happen in the future.
