HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR FEBRUARY, 2010

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

On February 1, 2010; A Meeting with Rick Brown about Jeanine Miller at 231 South 31st Street about the ongoing situation with the resident and her house.

On February 1, 2010; A Re-Inspection at 321 Redwood Street and all of the excessive trash has been corrected. The case is now closed.

On February 2, 2010; Pictures were taken a citation was issued for an accumulation of trash at 2698 George Street.

On February 2, 2010; An Onsite Inspection at Billy Dee’s Ice Cream Shoppe and Bakery about obtaining their 2010 Food License. The license was obtained and they are now in compliance.

On February 2, 2010; An Incident with a dog involving our Officer Christopher Croft assisting with a stray dog and was bitten on both of his hands. Superficial wounds were involved and the Officer was advised to seek the advice of his physician.

On February 3, 2010; An Incident with a dog involving our Officer, Earl Schooley while serving a search warrant. The incident occurred a the residence of 4701 North Galen Road.
The dog which is a husky is current on its shots and was home quarantined. The quarantine period ran from February 3, 2010 through till February 13, 2010. The dog was checked out by their veterinarian and a health certificate was supplied to my office on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 and the case is now closed.

On February 3, 2010; A Meeting was held with Chief Rob Martin and Deputy Chief Jeff Vargo about the two incidents.

On February 4, 2010; A new Massage Therapy Salon was inspected at 3814 Walnut Street. No violations were noted. Both the Massage Establishment and the Massage Technician licenses for 2010 were obtained.

On February 4, 2010; A Continence hearing for Antonio Librando from Catherine Street about the vehicle which needed to be removed from the property or the charges from the citation would stand. The vehicle was removed and the case is now closed.

On February 4, 2010; An Onsite Inspection at 3339 Trinity Road for violations about automotive parts being left out in the driveway. Vehicles are being stored up on jacks. A violation letter has gone out for the violations and a re-inspection will occur on Friday, February 19, 2010.

On February 5, 2010; A Re-Inspection in the yard of 405 Alden Street to see if the 2 toilets were removed from the backyard of the resident. Upon re-inspection; the toilets were removed and the case is now closed.

On February 5, 2010; A Large Boxer was running-at-large throughout the neighborhood and observed by me. The Boxer resides at 3653 North 3rd Street. A letter informing the resident of the violation was sent out and a copy of the animal ordinance. Additional complaints will be issued a citation.

On February 8, 2010; Checking on the sidewalks throughout the township that were not shoveled from the first snowstorm. 20 properties were noted and 4 were issued citations and the others received warning letters about shoveling the snow.

On February 9, 2010; A Court Hearing for Sale and Stacey Martin at 3606 North 2nd Street for an accumulation of brush in the backyard. The brush has been removed and the case is now dismissed.

On February 9, 2010; A Personal Visit to Montrose Café to Go about the clearing of the sidewalks. They were unaware that all of the sidewalks needed to be cleared. A re-inspection later that afternoon indicated that the snow had all been removed.

On February 12, 2010; A Housing Code Re-Inspection at 2305 Canby Street and no violations of any kind were noted on the inside or the outside of the house. The case is now closed.

On February 12, 2010; A Yard Re-Inspection at 2125 Herr Street see if the violations in the backyard had been removed. All of the violations were corrected and the case is now closed.

On February 16, 2010; A Recheck of the area of the township for the clearing of the sidewalks and the driveways. Numerous violations were noted and the violations letters have been going out. 1st time is a warning letter and the 2nd offense is an immediate citation.

On February 17, 2010; A Housing Code Inspection at 3525 North 6th Street with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. assisting and various violations were noted.

On February 17, 2010; An Extensive sit down meeting with the owner of the property at 3525 North 6th Street which is Tim Hogg with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. assisting with the meeting. Additional information needs to be gathered and a formal letter sent out to the owner.

On February 18, 2010; A Meeting with Gary Myers about the property at 3525 North 6th Street.

On February 18, 2010; An Onsite Inspection at Colorful Future Day Care Center for a roof sagging and a leak with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. assisting. This facility has not been inspected and will be now quarterly for Day Care Centers.

On February 18, 2010; Drug Testing was done for the 1st quarter of 2010 for the township. All results were negative.

On February 18, 2010; Travelled through Applecreek View Farms to check on the sidewalks. There were violations noted. Letters were sent out with the violations.

On February 19, 2010; An Extensive Meeting with myself, Albert Wrightstone, Jr. and Solicitor Bruce Foreman concerning 3525 North 6th Street.

On February 22, 2010; Another meeting about the property at 3525 North 6th Street with Manager Gary Myers and Solicitor Bruce Foreman.

On February 24, 2010; A Housing Code and Yard Inspection conducted at 3444 North 6th Street about the septic system. The owner of the property, Jeff Bixler, myself, and Albert Wrightstone, Jr. assisted with the housing code and yard inspection. At the completion of the housing code and yard inspection; the owner advised us that he would investigate the problem and let the township know his findings. The case is to be continued.

On February 24, 2010; An Onsite Inspection at 1110 Edgemont Road concerning an accumulation of salvage goods and a wheelbarrow being on someone else’s property. A letter was attached to the door for the owner to see for the violation.
