HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR FEBRUARY, 2009

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

 On February 2, 2009; An extensive meeting with Triple Crown Corporation at Steeplechase Apts. over loose trash that is blowing around and come up with a solution to prevent it.

On February 3, 2009; A Major meeting with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Ron Yoffee from Middle Department, Bob and Laura Daniels and Matt from M “& T Construction about the step leading into the New proposed Billy Dee’s Ice Cream Shoppe.

On February 3, 2009; A Meeting with Angela Payne-Property Manager at The Pines Apartments and at Apt. #J-2-Tara Williams over a refrigerator and the problem was solved on the spot. No further follow-up was needed.

On February 4, 2009; A Housing Code Re-Inspection at The Inn at the Dove with Albert Wrightstone, Jr. All of the violations were corrected and the case is now closed.

On February 4, 2009; Quarterly drug testing was done for the township.

On February 5, 2009; An extensive meeting with 2 residents over the feeding of cats in the neighborhood and how to correct the problems.

On February 6, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 4380 and 4384 North 6th Street for various violations with vehicles. Violation letters were sent out to each of the properties for the violations.

On February 10, 2009; A Housing Code Re-Inspection at 3935 North 6th Street and the landlord did not show up again and 7 citations were issued for outstanding violations.

On February 10, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at Whisperwood Apts. at 3640 Brookridge Terrace, Apt. #103 and numerous violations were reported and re-inspection will occur on February 24, 2009.

On February 11, 2009; A Re-Inspection at 2402 Brown Street fro various violations and a re-inspection will occur shortly for two minor violations being present.

On February 11, 2009; A Re-Inspection at 2005 Clayton Avenue for the railing and the bathroom. All of the were corrected and the case is now closed.

On February 11, 2009; A Housing Code Re-Inspection at 3444 North 6th Street and all of the violations are corrected. The case is now closed.

On February 11, 2009; A Meeting with Kathy Hollman and Sam Steckbeck about the feeding of squirrels and birds.

On February 11, 2009; An Onsite Meeting at United Concordia with Mike Sweigart about the ongoing problem of cigarette butt problems.

On February 11, 2009; A Re-Inspection at 3422 Schoolhouse Lane with Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Building Inspector and stated that she needed to secure a demolition permit to remove the structure.

On February 13, 2009; Major concerns in the Mountaindale area of visiting two sites with David Dyer about two trees that have fallen from the windstorm on Thursday, February 12.

On February 17, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 3523 North 4th Street and various violations were noted. A violation letter has been sent out for the violations.

On February 18, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 3500 Walnut Street with myself, George Drees, Fire Marshal, Maintenance Man for the complex, and Khaman Cchantyal who is the owner of the Aagan Restaurant at Harrisburg and the tenant from Apt. #6-Lori Taylor. Violations were noted and a violation letter will be sent out and re-inspection of the boarding house to occur in March.

On February 18, 2009; An Onite Yard Inspection at 3630 Ash Street about not cleaning up for dog feces and creating a nuisance for the neighbors. A citation will be issued and pictures were taken of the situation.

On February 20, 2009; An Extensive meeting with Ben, NEW Assitant Manager with Price Rite of Harrisburg, Tony-Support Manager from Philadelphia, Josh Bartholomew, District Manager with Price Rite and myself to go over the pest control for the store and the issues that are present. A meeting will be set up for a future time to resolve this problem with the assistance of the landlord.

On February 23, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at 1808 Holly Drive for trees beings trimmed. Onsite inspection with myself, and David Dyer, Highway Superintendent and the owners of the property, Althea and Stephen Sassaman. The violation in question is corrected and the case is now closed.

On February 23, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at the Old Harry Hot Wings’ Restaurant and dead mice, wasps, flies and roaches were present throughout the old restaurant.

On February 23, 2009; An Onsite Inspection was also done at the Comic Book Store about if they were having mice. At Christmas time they did have a problem. Further investigation will need to continue.

On February 23,2009; Another visit with Ben, Store Manager at the Price Rite of Harrisburg to have a discussion to let them know what the status was of the mice infestation.

On February 24, 2009; A Housing Rode Re-Inspection occurred at 3640 Brookridge Terrace, Apt. #103 with Sharon, Manager of the Whisperwood Apt. #103. All of the violations were corrected and the case is now closed.

On February 24, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 4312 North 6th Street. Various violations were noted and a letter will be going out for the violations.

On February 24, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at 124 Fort Hunter Road. No new violations were noted and no further action is needed.

On February 25, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at the former location for the Bagel Shoppe at the Dauphin Plaza had numerous violations and needed a very good cleaning. The inspection was done with the Maintenance Supervisor for Dauphin Plaza..

On February 25, 2009; Visits to each of the businesses in Dauphin Plaza to advise them of the violations being present. A letter of violation went out to WP Realty which is the Management Company for the violations listed and what needs to be done to corrected quickly.

On February 26, 2009; An Onsite Yard Inspection at 3737 Maple Street for the overgrowth of Hemlock’s. It was decided to wait till the weather is better and an extension was given to the end of March to have the violation corrected.

On February 26, 2009; An Extensive meeting with Ben, New Manager at the Price Rite of Harrisburg to bring him up to speed and let him know what the status was of the mice infestation throughout Dauphin Plaza.

On February 26, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at 3808 Bonnybrook Road for the pool, wood, brush and loose trash for the violations. A letter was sent out for the violations.

On February 27, 2009; An Onsite Yard Inspection at 111 Park Street occurred to discuss brush in their backyard. A letter of violation had been sent out to them for the violation present. A re-inspection will occur in March.

On February 27, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at Steeplechase Apts. for loose trash and will be discussing the situation with Gary to decide where do we go from here.
