HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR JANUARY, 2009

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

On January 5, 2009; A Yard Inspection at 1420 Roberts Valley Road for an illegal dumping and a violation letter was sent out for the violation.

On January 5, 2009; A Yard Inspection at The Houses at Oakhurst for the roll-off dumpster and the construction material to make sure that the material was removed and it was. This case will be monitored weekly to make sure that the owners comply with the township ordinances.

On January 7, 2009; A Meeting with Robert Grubic, Gary Myers, Albert Wrightstone, Jr. and myself concerning the SEO (Sewage Enforcement Officer) situation and another meeting is scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2009.

On January 8, 2009; A Housing Code Re-Inspection at 3935 and 3937 North 6th Street and all of the violations were noted corrected. A letter was sent out to the owner at a different address and I am awaiting a reply.

On January 8, 2009; An Onsite Yard Inspection at United Concordia about littering. A complaint was received from a neighbor about the large accumulation of cigarette butts and no receptacle to throw them away in. A violation letter was sent out and the time limit is up on Friday, January 16, 2009.

On January 9, 2009; A Clinic for Hepatitis B Series II Clinic and the 3rd and final clinic will be held in July. In August a titer clinic will be held.

On January 9, 2009; 22 Nasty Letters went out to Restaurants that have not renewed their licenses for 2009. They have till January 30, 2009 or citations will be issued until the Restaurant
Obtains a license.

On January 9, 2009; A Minor fire at the Susquehanna Township High School. A stove caught on fire as the cook was turning on the stove with pizza inside. The cook received minor burns on their hands. The cook was taken by ambulance to the hospital for the wounds. The stove was removed from the building. Fire Marshal George Drees and myself responded to the incident right after the clinic and people were just shook up and lunch was delayed by 45 minutes to allow the kitchen to clean up and move forward.

On January 12, 2009; A Meeting with Tim Goede about his concerns with the length of grass in our ordinances. Present for the meeting from the township was myself and Manager Gary Myers.

On January 13, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at 304 South 31st Street to check and see if the violations had been corrected. The violations were corrected and the citation previously filed will be withdrawn. It was withdrawn on January 14, 2009.

On January 14, 2009; A Housing Code Re-Inspection occurred at 3444 North 6th Street. No violations that remained from the previous re-inspection were corrected. The landlords were not present for the re-inspection. Another re-inspection will occur in February with a stern letter informing the landlords to finish the items left on the list or citations will be issued for each violation that is still present.

On January 14, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at 4208 Kirkwood Road for illegal dumping of brush unto the cul-de-sac at Cotswald. A violation letter is being sent out to remove the debris.

On January 16, 2009; A Meeting with Bob Grubic, Bob Whitmore, Matt Bonanno, myself, Albert Wrightstone, Jr., Gary Myers about Bob Whitmore becoming the SEO for Susquehanna Township and how we are going to handle cases and billing.

On January 16, 2009; A Meeting with Pam Winters, Manager of the Susquehanna Township Sewer Authority about the status of the upcoming Sanitary Sewer Project for Fort Hunter Road.
She stated that she will be approaching her Board at the next meeting of the Susquehanna Township Sewer Authority which will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2009.

On January 16, 2009; A Meeting with Cindy Deitrich about the billing and how the bills should be handled for Bob Whitmore.

On January 20, 2009; A Meeting with Edward Ward from Penn Waste about the tonnage form the DEP is now requiring all of the townships to use and how the information needs to be submitted to Dauphin County.

On January 20, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at 4501 Fargreen Road to check on the status of the trailer in question. George Drees, Fire Marshal, myself, Carol Peters representing the Susquehanna Township Health Board. The trailer was within the zoning and the regulations under the Health Codes. The case was closed and a letter was sent to the owners of the property informing them that the trailer was in compliance.

On January 21, 2009; Lynn hosted an Executive Board Meeting for CASA here at the Susquehanna Township building.

On January 22, 2009; A Housing Code Inspection at 3300 Walnut Street, Apt. G104 for an alligator. The alligator had been removed from the premises when the tenant was informed that the alligator was not allowed to reside in the apartment. The case is now closed.

On January 22, 2009; A Meeting with Hershocks on 6th Street to help them implement Commercial Recycling for their facility.

On January 23, 2009; A Meeting with Cindy Deitrich to go over the bills for our new SEO, Bob Whitmore and how to set this up and we are still working on the case.

On January 23, 2009; A Meeting with Laura and Bill Daniels at Billy Dee’s new Ice Cream Shoppe at Beaufort Plaza and see how the construction is progressing.

On January 26, 2009; A tour of the allies in Sean Sanderson’s ward with David Dyer, Highway Superintendent and numerous violations were noted. Violations letters for the brush have been sent out and the trees to be trimmed will sent out violation letters the beginning of March.

On January 29, 2009; A Meeting with Ron Yoffee from Middle Department to inform him about the procedures needed from the Health Department’s side and to keep the township informed of what is going on with cases.

On January 30, 2009; An Onsite Inspection at Wedgewood Hills Apartment Complex concerning the accumulation of snow and ice on the sidewalks and the parking lots. All of the snow and ice has been removed and no further follow-up is needed.
