SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP
HEALTH DEPARTMENT REPORT FOR JANUARY, 2007

ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTIONS
There were numerous inspections made on premises throughout the Township as a result of complaints, or scheduled survey and these premises were found to have either trash, weeds, or abandoned vehicles as the problem. These and other miscellaneous complaints were corrected or are in the process of correction through personal contact or letter notification.

On January 3, 2007; a Housing and Yard Inspection at 3836 Locust Lane with Albert Wrightstone, Jr.; Building Inspector assisting and various violations were found both inside and outside of the home. A repeat inspection is scheduled for February.

On January 5, 2007; a Yard Inspection at 2005 Clayton Avenue occurred concerning an extremely large hole in the backyard with fill not being clean.

On January 9, 2007; a Luncheon Meeting with Penn Waste attending along with Commissioners Ira Shapiro, Wendy Johnson, myself, Gary Myers, and Bruce Foreman. The meeting was over the extension of the yard waste agreement and the container limit.

On January 10, 2007; a Cat bite occurred at 3304 Andrea Avenue with two Jack Russell Terrier’s and the dogs killed the cat. The cat was taken by me to the Vet Lab at the Dept. of Ag. and the cat was negative for rabies.

On January 10, 2007; a Housing Code Inspection occurred at 3029 Walnut Street along with Albert Wrightstone, Jr.; Building Inspector and various violations were found. A repeat inspection will occur in February.

On January 10, 2007; an Extensive Pool Inspection occurred with the Dept. of Health at Central Penn Fitness Center. The problems were cleanliness, too high of counts in the spa area.

On January 11, 2007; a Court Hearing with Ted Russ over a car at his residence on Walnut Street. This was a continuance hearing over the car to be removed by the end of January. Another continuance is set up for Monday, February 12, 2007.

On January 11, 2007; a Court Hearing with Kenyatte Candidate over the property at 1506 Edgemont Road. The charges were all dismissed. Much of the material that was present at the location has been removed and will be completed in the spring.

On January 16, 2007; an Extensive Court Hearing at Commonwealth Court for Josephine Knoll. 6 Citations were brought against her and she was found guilty on all counts. She either received citations and a 90 day probationary period on the dog issues. Any more violations and she is going to jail.

On January 17, 2007; a Housing Code Inspection occurred at 3630 Brookside Terrace, Apt. #202 with some violations being present. Whisperwood Apartments is remodeling the unit. When the remodeling is completed; a re-inspection will occur; probably in March.

On January 23, 2007; A tour through the buildings with Orkin Pest Control about switching companies for the township to give a us a quote. Orkin will take over pest control in April.

On January 24, 2007; A CASA Executive Board Meeting was held here at the township building.

On January 24, 2007; a Meeting with Shirley and Doug Turner at 1112 Whitehall Terrace about cats.

On January 25, 2007; a Pre-opening inspection at Nationwide Café with myself and Albert Wrightstone, Jr., a re-inspection to open up the new kitchen with occur on Monday, February 5, 2007.

On January 26, 2007; a Housing Code Inspection at 2305 Canby Street. Many violations were found. A copy of my report is included with the packet this month. A meeting about the situation will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Noon and a re-inspection of the property will occur on Monday, February 12, 2007.

On January 29, 2007; meeting with Bruce Bayek who owns the property at 3701 Green Street.
The resident was informed that the housing code inspection scheduled for Wednesday, January 31, 2007 needed to take place because of an incident report provided to me from the police.

On January 31, 2007; a Housing Code Inspection of the property located at 3701 Green Street. I, Albert Wrightstone, Jr., and Michel Rohrer conducted the inspection. The property will be placarded on Wednesday, February 6, 2007. This is a garage which has been made into an apartment which cannot be done. The placard will always be present.
