The Regular Meeting of the Board of Health was called to order by
President Mark Cohen at 12:21.m. in
the Susquehanna Room at Susquehanna
Township, 1900 Linglestown Road.

APPROVED MINUTES
Approval
of the Health Board Minutes of October
20, 2005 was approved by Dr. Bernard
Margolis,
and
seconded by Dr. Bruce Goodman.
OLD
BUSINESS
Discussion
occurred over the new trash hauler and the events leading up to
The
selection of the trash hauler. We discussed the changes from the existing
Contract
to the new contract. The biggest
change being going from unlimited
Trash
to a 4 container limit. Carol
Turner, from Penn Waste is making
Personal
visits to each of the commercial customers.
New recycling bins
Have
been ordered and we be delivered to each resident during the month of
December.
A flyer will be going out to each resident during the week of
November
28. Edward Ward, Municipal Contract
Manager will available
at
the next Health Board meeting for questions.
Discussion
occurred over the situation with Fox’s Market and
what to do
With
the situation. A follow-up
inspection will occur after Thanksgiving.
a
full report of the situation will be given to the Health Board at the
December
meeting. It was also suggested to
check with the Department
Of
Agriculture about the situation at the Hershey and
Middletown
stores.
Up
on
Forest Oak Lane
concerning saw tooth beetles as to the status of the
situation.
The situation is going before DJ Shugars on Friday, September 30
the
defendant has chosen the hardest route possible to get the matter
resolved.
DJ Shugars stated that the defendant must allow access to the
house
before Halloween. A re-inspection of
the property has been set up for
Friday,
October 14 at 1:00p.m. The
defendant ignored the requests and did
not
show for two inspections. DJ Shugars
was informed of the situation and
asked
me to try one more time to have a housing code inspection.
A
re-inspection of the property did occur on Wednesday, November 9, 2005
and
at that time no active infestation was found.
I did state to her verbally
and
in a letter that she was required to obtain a professional exterminator to
Evaluate
the situation by Wednesday, November 30, 2005.
NEW
BUSINESS
A
flu shot clinic was held here at the township building on Friday, October
28
for the township employees and boards of the township.
Discussion also was mentioned about the
EMS
and the differences between
Emergency
Medical Services and the Emergency Municipal Service Tax.
A
lengthy discussion occurred over the
EMS
and how the Township can
assist
the
EMS
. A motion was made by the Health
Board to go to the
Finance
Committee of the Board of Commissioners. Dr.
Bernard Margolis
made
the motion to have the township look into more funding for the
EMS
of
Susquehanna
Township
. The motion was seconded by Dr.
Bruce
Goodman.
Richard Bronstein did state that he was pleased that the township
is
going to assist with the purchase of an ambulance for
EMS
.
A few properties were mentioned for Health Officer Lynn Roche to check
into
before the next Health Board meeting in December.
